Fishlips 7th Annual Martini Fest
The upper deck of Fishlips Waterfront Bar and Grill was packed on Sunday, with thirsty guests who simply couldn’t get enough of the unique flavored martinis, made by the Fishlips’ bartenders at the 7th Annual Martini Fest.
This event is largely anticipated by the staff of Fishlips because it gives the bartenders the opportunity to show off their creative side and come up with a unique martini that guests would never expect.
Residents of Brevard County also look forward to this event because it is a party that has nothing but good drinks, good people and good times.
There were eight martini flavors to choose from, on Sunday’s 7th Annual Martini Fest; Choco-tastic, Island Berry, Green Tea-ni, Rosemary Citrus, Cinnamon Bun, Bermuda Triangle, Candy Apple-tini and Tito’s Banana Nut Bread.
This year’s Martini Fest winners were:
1st Place– Gillian Johnstone, with her Candy Apple-tini, winning a $500 cash prize!
2nd Place– Butch Calkins, with his Choco-tastic martini, winning a $300 cash prize.
3rd Place– Kim Thorne, with her Green Tea-ni, winning a $200 cash prize.
The renowned artist, Michael Godard, was also at the Martini Fest displaying his artwork. Godard had many of his painting on display, for guests to view. He even painted a piece in front of the crowd, of a cartooned version of Fishlips Waterfront Bar and Grill.
Jennifer Shaver, from Merritt Island, voted for Richard Gonzalez’s Rosemary Citrus martini.
“I ended up voting for the Rosemary Citrus martini because it was the most unique flavored. The Candy Apple and Chocolate martini were good but I felt like Richard’s martini was unique and different tasting than everyone else’s,” Shaver said.
Shaver said thought the Rosemary Citrus martini was different because of the unique flavor the rosemary gave to the drink.
“People seem to either really love rosemary or really hate it,” Shaver said.
Denise Riffle, from Melbourne, voted for the Choco-tastic martini.
“It’s filled with chocolate! Who wouldn’t want to vote for this? Props to the bartender that came up with this marvelous drink,” Riffle said.
By 4 o’clock, guests had drunk hundreds of martinis and were only left wanting more. The Annual Fishlips’ Martini Fest is something that residents of Brevard County and the staff of Fishlips look forward to all year round.
