Although it may seem like summer never ends in Brevard, the weather gets (slightly) cooler, the days become shorter and the presence of fall fills the air. From free movies in the park to music festivals and free concerts, there are numerous events in Brevard this fall that will be fun for the whole family. Here’s our guide to the best events taking place in Brevard from early September to late November.
9/17 – Rainbow Run 5K in the Eau Gallie Arts District: Pride week on the Space Coast kicks off with a colorful 5K race in the Eau Gallie Arts District. Have fun and show your pride in the race or cheer on the colorful runners. The event begins at 7:30 a.m. Tickets can be purchased on UpRunningRaceManagement.com
9/23 – 3rd Annual Taste of the Coast: Sample delicious food from restaurants all over the Space Coast. There will also be a cash bar and live entertainment. Food and beverage vendors will be competing for the coveted “People’s Choice” award. Purchase tickets for $20 in advance at business.cocoabeachchamber.com and $25 at the door.
9/23 – Dinner and Free Movie at Wickham Park: Bring the family and come out for a night of food trucks and a movie under the stars. Kona Food Truck Luaus is presenting a wide variety of food trucks in the park from 6-9 p.m. The movie, Space Jam, will begin at 7:45 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs.
9/24 – Space Coast Pride Parade and Festival: The festival will feature live music, vendors, entertainment, food, drinks and a kid’s zone. The Pride Parade starts at 6 p.m. on Highland Avenue. Admission to the Space Coast Pride Parade and Festival is free!
9/24 – Under the Harvest Moon Sip & Stroll in Cocoa Village: Enjoy wine or beer samplings, snacks and shopping deals to welcome fall and celebrate the Oktoberfest season. The event is from 5-9 p.m. Tickets include a Sip & Stroll commemorative wine or beer glass, shopping bag, and a map of the participating merchants.
10/01 to 10/31 – Coasters Pub & Biergarten’s Oktoberfest: Enjoy 25 taps of authentic German Beers and German food during the entire month of October in Brevard’s greatest biergarten. Menu includes items such as Schweinshaxe, Wiener Schnitzel, Weisswurst and Bratwurst. For more, please visit www.CoastersPub.com.
10/01 – Cocoa Village Oktoberfest: During the day there will be a side stage with traditional German music by Jimmy and Eckhard followed by vendors and traditional German food, drinks and music. Event gates open at noon.
10/01 – Melbourne Mud Bash: The Melbourne Mud Bash is a 5K fun obstacle and mud run that makes its way through Wickham Park, utilizing the park’s natural elements to create fun and challenging courses for varying skill levels. The event begins at 7 a.m. Tickets can be purchased on www.eventbrite.com
10/07 – Bikes & Blues October First Friday in EGAD: Stroll historic Highland Avenue to see what new exhibits are opening in the galleries. Eat, drink and have fun. It’s finally..sort of…fall. The event is free and open to the public 5:30-8:30 p.m.
10/08 – Rocky Water Brew Fest: Rocky Water is an event that will bring together some of the best breweries in Florida. Only the finest breweries will be invited to the Rocky Water Brew Fest. You can enjoy unlimited tastings with your ticket to the event. Doors open 1-5 p.m. Tickets can be purchased on www.RockyWaterBrewFest.com.
10/08 – Street Eats on Taylor Ave Food Truck Extravaganza: Enjoy the food truck extravaganza with numerous gourmet food trucks and drinks. This family-friendly event is free and open to the public, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
10/08, 10/09 – Space Coast Oktoberfest & Music Festival: Join the party at the Space Coast Oktoberfest & Music Festival with live music, German bands, delicious food, art, vendors, a classic car show, kids’ zone, fireworks and a lot of beer. Admission is $5 per day and free for kids under 12.
10/14 to 10/16 – East Coast Boat, RV & Outdoor Show: Also known as Florida’s premier outdoor show, the East Coast Boat, RV & Outdoor Show will have over 100 new and preowned boats from world-renowned boat dealers. Thousands are expected to attend the show in front of the Exploration Tower in Port Canaveral. Admission to the event is only $5 and free for kids under 12. Enjoy food, drinks and so much more.
10/14 to 10/30 – Boo at the Zoo: Boo at the Zoo is back and more spooktacular than ever! This event is fun for the whole family with over 30 treat stations, a live DJ, a haunted house, fun games and a costume contest. Boo at the Zoo, at the Brevard Zoo, is from October 14 – 16, 21 – 23 & 28 – 30 5:30-9 p.m. (Fridays & Saturdays), 5:30-8 p.m. (Sundays).
10/14 – Wyclef Jean at FIT Homecoming: Wyclef Jean will be performing a free concert in downtown Melbourne at the FIT Homecoming Festival. The event will begin around 6 p.m. on Main Street in downtown Melbourne.
10/15, 10/16 – Salty Sweet Women’s Pro/Am Surfing Contest: This year’s Salty Sweet Surf Festival will have $5,000 cash prize for the Longdoggers Pro Longboard and Pro Shortboard divisions. There will also be a whole area dedicated to children’s mermaid crafts from 12-2 p.m.
10/21 – Melbourne Zombie Walk & Pub Crawl: Makeup artists will set up at 3 p.m. to make guests look extra scary for a small fee. The family-friendly portion of the event will run from 5-7 p.m., which includes costume contests, trivia and photo ops. The Zombie Pub Crawl will begin in downtown Melbourne at 6:45 p.m. Tickets are $18 in advance and $25 the day of and include six drinks.
10/21 – Reggaeween 2016 at Rusty’s Oyster Bar & Grill: Live performances by Coastal Breed, Gary Lazer Eyes and Karlos Marz Band. Wear your best costume for a chance to win $500. Reggaeween 2016 is hosted by Mark Longenecker. Doors open at 9 p.m. No cover.
10/22 – Rootfire at the Park: This music and lifestyle festival, at Riverfront Park in Cocoa Village, will feature soccer, volleyball and yoga. The music lineup includes Iration, Tribal Seeds, Collie Buddz and more. There will also be games, food and drinks. Guests will receive discounted tickets if they ride their bikes.
10/22 – Fall Festival at Sandpoint Park: The Fall Festival at Sandpoint Park will feature a costume contest, games, trick or treating, a photo booth and a free movie in the park. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets to enjoy the movie. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
10/28 – Kidtoberfest at Wickham Park: This family-friendly festival will have hayrides, costume contests, crafts, games, candy and a free movie in the park. Food trucks will be in the park from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and the movie will start around 8 p.m.
10/28 – Monster Mash Trunk or Treat: Bring the kids out to enjoy a Halloween dance party and trunk or treat event. There will be a costume contest, DJ, games, activities and so much more. Admission is free and the event is 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
10/29 – Bug-O-Ween at Bugnutty Brewing Company: Enjoy the release of local favorite Rhesus Peanut Butter Cup craft beer. The judging of the costume contest at Bugnutty Brewing Company will begin at 9:30 p.m. First place wins a $50 gift certificate, $25 for second place and $15 for third place.
10/31 – Fishlips’ Halloween Party: Head over to Fishlips Waterfront Bar & Grill on Halloween for one of Brevard’s most epic Halloween parties. Costume contest: $500 cash prize for 1st place, $250 prize for 2nd place and $100 prize for 3rd place. Judging for the contest starts at 10 p.m. $1,000 balloon drop at midnight. Party is from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.
11/10 – Wine and Whiskers Fundraiser: Join the SPCA of Brevard Adoption Center for an evening of wine, whiskers, live music, food and raffles. Admission is $10 but free if you bring a bottle of wine. Don’t miss an evening of fun that will benefit a good cause!
11/12 – River Fest at Riverfront Park in Cocoa Village: Enjoy live country music by John Michael Montgomery, Walker McGuire and Ray Scott. There will be vendors, food trucks, drinks and so much more! River Fest begins at 3 p.m.
11/12 – Melbourne Food and Wine Festival: Head over to downtown Melbourne for a beautiful night of food, music and cultural entertainment, celebrating downtown Melbourne’s culinary arts. There will be over 50 local restaurants, wineries and breweries, with a craft beer garden, covered seating, live art showcases and so much more at the first annual Melbourne Food and Wine Festival.
