The Harlem Shake: Fishlips Style

Can’t get enough of the Harlem Shake? Can’t get enough of Fishlips Waterfront Bar & Grill in Port Canaveral? Well we put the best of both worlds together. The crew from Fishlips and the teams at BrevardNightLife.com and Octo Interactive got together and made a Harlem Shake video. If you’ve never see one of these before, welcome to it. The Harlem Shake videos are a meme that took the Internet by storm in the beginning of 2013. The videos soon became viral and everyone that was anyone made one. From members of the armed forces to Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte and the gang over at Speedo, everyone is doing the Harlem Shake.

If you’re wondering if there really is something called the Harlem Shake, yes, there is. We’ll give you fair warning here that the dance you see being done in the Internet mem videos is not actually the Harlem Shake. The real Harlem Shake is a dance that originated in 1981 in, of all places, Harlem New York. It is a dance that was originally called the “Albee”, named after its’ creator Mr. “Al B.”. The dance gained popularity in 2001 when G. Dep featured the Harlem Shake in his music video “Let’s Get It”.

Let us know what you think. And if you like it then share it with your friends. If you make one of your own, send us the link, we’d love to see it. And who know, maybe we’ll post it on BrevardNightLife.com.
