Instead of bringing the traditional hamburger and hotdogs to this year’s Fourth of July BBQ, why not bring something creative, simple and fresh?
This 4th of July fruit salad recipe is perfect for a quick snack and it will leave everyone at the barbeque wishing you brought more! It’s sweet, tangy, fresh and perfect for summertime.
This salad is great for the Fourth of July because of its patriotic colors and the secret ingredient fruit salad dressing, which will prevent your salad from turning brown all day in the summer heat.
For red, white and blue fruits in this 4th of July fruit salad recipe we chose raspberries, sliced apples and blueberries, but you could also mix it up with strawberries, sliced bananas and blueberries.
If you really wanted to go the extra mile and make this 4th of July fruit salad even more patriotic, you could add watermelon and pineapple to the bunch and cut them into small star shapes.
Whichever red, white and blue fruits you choose to put in your patriotic salad, the dressing is really what makes this 4th of July fruit salad recipe stand out from any others!
- ¼ cup olive oil
- ¼ cup of fresh lime juice
- 2 TB of sugar
- 2 TSP of poppy seeds
- A dash of tabasco hot sauce (crazy, I know!)
- Raspberries, sliced apples and blueberries (washed and drained)
- Mix all salad dressing ingredients in a tightly covered container.
- Shake well.
- Pour over prepared fruit and enjoy!
