Main Stage Slot Reserved For New Talent Discovery

This March music fans ill enjoy 3-days of big stars taking the stage, one after another, in Melbourne’s Wickham Park. The 4th Annual Runaway Country Festival features Keith Urban, Toby Keith, The Band Perry, Joe Nichols, Charlie Daniels Band, Rodney Atkins, Chris Cagle, Gloriana, JT Hodges, Colt Ford, LoCash Cowboys, Sarah Darling, Blackjack Billy and many more. New this year, a soon-to-be-discovered artist or music group will be selected by the fans to take over the Main Stage and kick-off the weekend beginning at 1pm on Friday, March 21st.

Called “Runaway RockStar” the festival is encouraging musicians to upload their best performance to YouTube. A link to the YouTube video will be published on Runaway Country’s Facebook page. Fans can click on the links to view the videos and then vote for their favorite each week. The artist or band with the most votes at the end of the online competition will win the coveted Main Stage performace slot.

Runaway Country Executive Producer, Gary McCann explained, “Each year we invite talented artists, looking for their big break, to play the Main Stage. This year, the fans select their favorite to play, It’s an exciting competition for all of us to watch and of course, really exciting for the artists. It’s pretty cool that Runaway fans hace the opportunity to play an integral part in launching the career of a new artist. It’s a win-win for everyone.”

Information for artists wanting to compete for the Main Stage and for fans wanting to vote can be found at Facebook.com/RunawayCountry. The entry deadline is January 19, 2014.
