I've been hiring and firing employees (and everything in between) for a long time now and there are certain things I look for when I sit down to talk to someone for the first time. The first question I ask a potential employee is this, "What do you know about my company?" That question is usually answered by a blank stare, some chair fidgeting and a lot of , "Um, well.. uh…" because most of the time, the person I am interviewing knows nothing about my company.
