Super Boats Make Waves at Thunder On Cocoa Beach

ThunderOnCocoaBeach_2015

Super Boats such as Miss Geico, Broadco and Stihl Offshore Racing are hitting the water this weekend in Cocoa Beach. With speeds upwards of 200+ miles per hour these boats are more than impressive, they are outright phenomenal. Race week kicks off on Wednesday, May 13th at the VIP, Sponsor and Media Reception at the newly remodeled Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront. Hundreds of guests will be on hand as well as several super boats and race teams. The party continues throughout the week in Downtown Cocoa Beach with the Official Kick-Off Party on Thursday night at Juice N’ Java Cafe plus the Thunder On Cocoa Beach Block party and the Race Party at Coconuts On The Beach on Friday night.

On Saturday the event shifts gears and heads up to Port Canaveral, dubbed Race Village, for the weekend. Bluepoints Marina will play host to the wet pits where you can watch the super boats being craned into the water and launch into the waters of Port Canaveral for testing. The boats that are not in the water will be on display to the public in the dry pits at Race Village. Later on Saturday evening, there will be another race party in the Port as well as the annual Miss Thunder On Cocoa Beach Bikini Contest at 9pm at Milliken’s Reef.

Sunday brings us to race day. The first race tentatively starts at noon, although there is talk of adding a 10am heat if more than the currently registered boats show up to race. The second race will start at 2pm. The race start and finish line is at Shepard Park. From there the super boats will head south to turn #1 at Lori Wilson Park and then back north to turn #2 at Cocoa Beach Pier.

Premium viewing is available for VIP ticket holders in your choice of three VIP Chalets located at Cocoa Beach Pier, Shepard Park and Lori Wilson Park. The VIP Chalets have comfortable seating, flat screen TVs with live race coverage by Live Stream ensuring that fans are able to watch the race at all points throughout the course plus food and beverages will be available for purchase.
