Sandwiches are the ultimate go-to meal. All it takes is two slices of bread, tasty fillings and a creative palate to create the sandwich of your dreams. We’re not talking about some peanut butter and jelly slapped in-between some bread. We’re talking about grown up grilled cheese, authentic Philly cheesesteaks, double decker turkey clubs and French dip sandwiches dripping in au jus . Lucky for us, the Space Coast is loaded with delicious sandwiches. Read on and discover where to find the best sandwiches in Brevard and stay tuned for part two.
Fishlips Waterfront Bar & Grill
One of the locals’ favorite hangout spots is Fishlips Waterfront Bar & Grill, in Port Canaveral. Fishlips is dishing out great food, with great views. There are some dynamite sandwiches on their menu, but one that’s always been constant is the Ribeye Steak sandwich, served with marbled ribeye, onion straws and roasted garlic aioli on toasted French bread. Other must-try sandwiches at Fishlips are the Grilled Buffalo Chicken and the Turkey Club.
Grills Seafood Deck & Tiki Bar
The Shrimp Cuban at Grills Seafood Deck & Tiki Bar, in Port Canaveral, is fairly new to the menu, but already one of the favorites. You may be skeptical of a Cuban that’s not made with the traditional ingredients, but trust us on this one. Two slices of authentic Cuban bread, filled with marinated, juicy pork, shrimp and provolone cheese topped with a zesty sauce and pressed to perfection. Locals are already calling this one of the best sandwiches in Brevard.
Green Room Café
We’ve written about how awesome Green Room Café is in some of our past articles, but we have to give credit to one of their sandwiches: The Sunset Sandwich. This tuna salad sandwich isn’t like what mom used to pack in your lunchbox. Green Room Café is all about serving healthy food, bursting with unique flavors. The Sunset offers the perfect combination of ingredients: homemade tuna salad, cheese, crisp apples, sprouts, lettuce, tomato and carrots.
Tucked away in downtown Cocoa Beach, Johnathan’s Pub is known for their fresh squeezed juice drinks and French Dip sandwiches. Johnathan’s encompasses everything a pub is supposed to be: pool tables, dart boards, low lighting, friendly bartenders, good drinks and awesome pub food. If you’ve never had one of their sandwiches, try the French Dip. There’s nothing more comforting than a delicious French Dip sandwich, dripping with au jus. Served on a French roll with thin slices of roast beef and au jus, you’ll be coming back every week for another.
Juice N Java Café
Hands down, Juice N Java Café has some of the best sandwiches in Brevard. Juice N Java Café’s paninis are everything you’d want in a sandwich, plus so much more. You can’t go wrong with any panini you choose at JNJ. The Milano is served with ovengold turkey, brie, mango chutney (you could put this stuff on a piece of cardboard and I’d still eat it), garlic aioli sauce, spring mix, tomato and red onion. The Americano is fairly similar, but served with Swiss cheese and creamy pesto sauce. If you’re looking for that “grownup grilled cheese” mentioned early, order the Grilled Five Cheese: asiago, parmesan, Romano, cheddar and mozzarella. Choose from sourdough, multi grain, focaccia or ciabatta bread.
Little Phillies Cheesesteaks
Sometimes a good, authentic cheesesteak can be hard to come by. That’s when Little Phillies Cheesesteak, in Satellite Beach, comes to the rescue. An authentic cheesesteak has juicy, thin slices of beef, a crisp, but yet fluffy roll, and loads of gooey cheese, which is what you’ll find at Little Phillies. All of their cheesesteaks are made to order with 100% sliced ribeye steak (or lean chicken breast for a healthy alternative). Take a seat and let the friendly staff serve you one of the best Philly cheesesteaks on the Space Coast. It’s as simple as that.
Longboards Tiki Beach Grille
Only footsteps away from the beach, Longboards Tiki Beach Grille is an awesome place to kickback, relax and enjoy good food and drinks at the tiki bar or at their umbrella-lined patio. There’s plenty of tasty items on the menu, but if you’re craving a sandwich you have to try the Cocoa Beach Turkey Club. The massive, double-decker sandwich isn’t your classic turkey club. Layers of golden turkey, crispy bacon, Swiss cheese, creamy avocado, and lettuce appears on soft, crusty bread served with kettle-cooked potato chips.
Pub Americana, in Cocoa Village, is putting a modern, gourmet twist on their sandwiches, using a unique combination of flavors and ingredients. The Cajun Chicken sandwich is served with caramelized onions, provolone, lettuce, tomato and spicy aioli; the perfect blend of savory and spicy. It may not be a sandwich, but if you have a hangover or not, the Hangover Cure burger will instantly make your day better. Served between a toasted bun with your choice of protein (juicy angus beef, turkey, chicken breast) with melted Monterey jack cheese, crispy bacon, fried egg, avocado-relish and tomato. The flavors from the gooey cheese, egg and other ingredients melt together to create perfection.
