Things can get pretty hectic on Thanksgiving Day while everyone is running around the kitchen, getting hung up on the turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing. When your guests start arriving, you realize you forgot to prepare something to give them right away.
There’s no better way to welcome someone on Thanksgiving than with a holiday-themed cocktail. Instead of relying on beer and wine this year, spice things up with these three easy seasonal cocktails (you’re welcome).
Apple Cider Mimosas
- Apple cider
- Cinnamon sugar
- Apple slices
Dip the rim of the champagne flutes in water and then cinnamon sugar to rim the glasses. Fill half of the glass with apple cider and then half with champagne (or whichever proportion of champagne to apple cider you prefer) and bam – you now have a quick, easy and delicious Thanksgiving drink.
Ingredients (serves 3):
- 1 ½ cups cranberry juice cocktail
- ¾ cup of fresh lime juice
- ¾ cup of tequila
- ½ cup of orange-flavored liqueur
- Ice cubes
Stir all of the ingredients together until blended. Rim glasses with sugar or salt and serve drink over ice. Garnish glasses with lime wedges or fresh cranberries on a toothpick for an extra holiday feel.
Ingredients (serves 6):
- 2 apples, cored, sliced thin and cut into bite size pieces
- 2 clementines or oranges, sliced and seeded
- 1 cup of frozen cranberries
- 1 cup of vodka
- 1 bottle of chilled Cava (a Spanish sparkling wine) or any other sparkling wine
Ingredients for Spiced Honey Syrup:
- ½ cup honey
- ½ cup water
- 3 whole star anise
- ½ inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and sliced into 4 to 5 slices
- 1 strip of orange peel, removed with a peeler
Combine the honey, water, star anise, ginger slices and orange peel in a small sauce pan. Simmer the ingredients on medium-high and then lower the heat to a slow simmer. Continue simmer for 10 minutes and then remove from heat and let cool. Strain ingredients.
In a large pitcher combine the fruit, vodka and half of the homemade honey syrup. Lightly stir the ingredients and then add chilled Cava (or any other sparkling wine) and stir. Serve over ice and add fruit to each glass.
