The holidays are here, which means the breweries in Brevard have been working hard to craft some of their most creative and festive beers. Seasonal craft beers often include flavors that represent the season like pumpkin, cranberry, mocha, cinnamon and spice.
Playalinda Brewing Company, in Titusville, is getting into the holiday spirit on Dec. 13 with their December Tap Takeover with Highland Brewing Company. The Tap Takeover begins at 2 p.m. and will include many seasonal beers including Cold Mountain Winter Ale, Black Mocha Stout and Thunderstruck Coffee Porter. This holiday season Playalinda Brewing Co. will be releasing their new Aw, Snap! Holiday Spiced Ale. This ale will replicate flavors of a ginger bread cookie, with tasty hints of molasses and ginger. There’s no better way to kick off the holidays than with these unique and delicious craft brews.
Bugnutty Brewing Company, in Merritt Island, has some daring and unique seasonal flavors to spice up this holiday season. The Apple Pie Ala Mode is not your grandmother’s apple pie. This beer is made with Maris Otter grain to give it that nice pie crust flavor and lactose to bump up that ice cream flavor. Last but not least, real apple cider, cinnamon, vanilla beans and nutmeg work together to give this beer true, homemade apple pie flavor.
Another winter favorite at Bugnutty Brewing Company is Mike’s Milf Stout with roasted coffee overtones and a big creamy mouth feel. This ale is perfect for the wintertime and great for people who enjoy a dark beer with a bold attitude.
Intracoastal Brewing Company, in Melbourne, does the holidays right. A current favorite on tap at Intracoastal Brewing Co. right now is their Live Free of Apple Pie Ale. Take one whiff of this beer while your eyes are closed and you’ll swear its apple pie.
This ale gives off a pleasant cinnamon and apples aroma. Once you take a sip you’ll taste the cinnamon followed the sweet apples, with a subtle amber malt backbone.
The brewers at Florida Beer Company, in Cape Canaveral, present to you a spiced winter warmer spin-off of our traditional Swamp Ape. Winter Swamp Ape has a deep copper color with a sweet malty foundation, highlighting flavors of caramel and milk chocolate. The sweetness of this seasonal brew is balanced by a smooth resinous hop bitterness and a hint of pine. The brewers used classic holiday spices of cinnamon, clove, lemon peel and nutmeg, finished off by dry hopping with Cascade hops to impart an aromatic grapefruit essence.
